Tumblr is a microblogging platform where text, images, GIFs and audio share the same feed, and where reblogging rather than commenting drives how things spread.

Its communities are strongly subcultural — fandom, illustration, fashion and niche interests — with a tone and set of conventions distinct from mainstream social platforms. Content there often circulates for years rather than days.

It is a poor fit for conventional marketing and a good one for building an audience around a specific aesthetic or fandom, provided you actually participate in the culture rather than broadcast at it.
