WeChat Pay is the payment layer inside WeChat, and in daily Chinese life it is the most widely accepted method — from large retailers down to street vendors with a printed QR code.

Because it lives inside the messaging app almost everyone already has, adoption required no separate download, which is largely why it reached universal acceptance so quickly.

For merchants it connects to mini-programs and official accounts, so payment, ordering and customer relationship all sit in the same place.
