edX

edX is an online course platform founded by Harvard and MIT, carrying courses from a wide set of universities and institutions.

Its strength is depth in science, engineering and computer science, where several of its course sequences are used as genuine substitutes for undergraduate material rather than as overviews.

Auditing is free for most courses; certificates and graded assessment require payment, and MicroMasters programmes can transfer credit toward degrees at participating universities.
